Youngjun Kweon received his bachelor's degree in civil and environmental engineering from Seoul National University, South Korea, in February 2019, with a thesis titled Predicting Global Responses based on Local Responses in 2D Frame Model Using Artificial Neural Network. Since March 2019, he has been pursuing his Ph.D. at the Structural System Reliability Group of Seoul National University.
His research interests include (1) system reliability-based assessment of civil systems for disaster resilience, (2) quantifying the relative importance of components in infrastructure networks, and (3) probabilistic causality analysis of the infrastructure network dynamics. He is currently applying the methodologies to analyze the nature of flow-based infrastructure networks in terms of disaster resilience.
From February to May 2024, he is a visiting scholar at the Chair of Structural Dynamics and Earthquake Engineering at ETH Zürich. He has been awarded a fellowship from the "Young Researchers Exchange Program between South Korea and Switzerland" under the "Korean-Swiss Science and Technology Program" to support his research. During his visit to ETHZ, he will collaborate with Prof. Dr. Božidar Stojadinović and Dr. Nikola Blagojević on two primary topics: implementing the recovery process of power systems in pyrecodes, open-source software designed for regional recovery simulation and resilience assessment; and developing a disaster resilience analysis framework for power networks to support resilience-informed decision-making.
