Safak Arslantürkoglu received his structural engineering diploma in 2013 from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. While working for Baertschi Partner Consulting from 2014 to 2018, he assessed and retrofitted dozens of existing structures throughout Switzerland, with a focus on the seismic safety of buildings and the punching shear safety of car parks. He also served as a consultant to third parties regarding the punching shear safety of numerous punching shear systems used in Switzerland from the 1960s to the present.

After several years in practice, he transitioned to research, delving into methods for risk-based seismic assessment of existing structures. In 2023, he completed his doctoral studies at ETH Zurich with a thesis titled "Risk-Based Seismic Assessment of Existing Unreinforced Masonry Buildings in Switzerland."

Currently, he serves as a postdoctoral researcher with a keen interest in seismic evaluation and upgrading of existing structures, with a particular emphasis on risk perception and risk mitigation. His research focuses on developing methods to quantify potential risks and implement effective mitigation strategies, especially in regions prone to low to moderate seismic activity. Concurrently, he has founded LEO Consultingcall_made, dedicated to the assessment and retrofitting of existing structures, thereby advancing his contributions to both the academic and practical realms of structural engineering.
